[LET SCI - 2] Research and Reflection in the LET Programme
by Ha Pham (Alice) from Vietnam
This week, Niina and Pirkko presented us the lesson: "Research and reflection in the LET Programme". They recorded a video with their voice to show us the contents as well as their explanation.
1. My understanding
As I understand, there are a few main things that we need to keep in mind about this lesson:
Research part:
- LET program is research-based. It catches up with the new, current, relevant researches in the world in the field of learning and education.
- The teacher showed us where, when and how the researches are done, to make us more aware of how the data collected.
- Ethical consideration is also a useful part for me, I can see that we are appreciated when taking part in the researches.
Reflection part:
- Next, Niina showed us the schedule in terms of learning profile, personal development so that we can have a long term view about that.
- In the last part of the presentation, Niina and Pirkko explain in more details about the concept of reflection as well as how my learning profile will be formed.
- At the end of the lesson, I have had bullets about my responsibilities in the first week and so on, especially the upcoming personal study profile (PSP) meeting with Niina on 30th Sep.
2. My comments and feelings:
- The most valuable thing I learnt from this lesson is the importance of reflection. It's not about how much, but how deep we learn, and how related the topics are with our personal goals, motivations in our lives. I think that's called metacognition.
Reflection is important for developing your strengths and for recognizing directs and aims for learning and progress.
- I am also impressed by the part about forms of knowledge and how we should do with our knowledge.

- The video hasn't had any conclusion. I think to complete my understanding of this lesson, I need to finish all the tasks. The survey, discussion and the 2 Word documents, which contained the reading of 2 recommended articles. I believe I will have more new thoughts after turning in the assignment.
